Loan information

The Dombibliothek Hildesheim is open to the public from Tuesday – Friday, 9am – 4.30pm.

All books younger than 100 years can be kept for up to 4 weeks. Books from the reading room can usually be borrowed over the weekend and up to two weeks in specific cases. Our team will gladly answer your questions and take your requests for an extension.

Should your books be late and we haven't heard back from you within a week, we charge a fine of €2 for the first reminder, €5 for the second and €7 for the third.

Work environment

We provide the following:

  • A reading room equiped with 22 seats for reading and working, two work stations with a desktop computer, and three tables specifically for working with manuscripts
  • Three small study rooms for one person each
  • A small conference room for up to 10 people
  • A larger conference room for up to 20 people

 

Free wireless internet access is available to all our visitors. All parts of the public library are fully accessible.

Please notify us beforehand (dombibliothek@bistum-hildesheim.de) when you want to work with any of our manuscripts.
